Help with Cognitive, Developmental and Behavioral Problems

Mary Bridge Pediatric Psychology and Psychiatry Services provides evaluation and treatment services for a wide variety of cognitive, developmental, emotional and behavioral problems. Our multidisciplinary approach means children benefit from the expertise of our entire team. Our professionals consult with the Mary Bridge inpatient units and outpatient specialty clinics involved with a patient’s treatment to ensure the most appropriate care and treatment are provided for each child.

Our program is primarily consultative, requiring referral from another medical provider, and includes the services listed below. 

Our Services:

Pediatric Psychology

  • Assessment and treatment of maladaptive coping styles in children struggling with chronic health issues including diabetes, cancer, cystic fibrosis, physical and developmental disability, cardiac conditions and other serious health issues.
  • Adjustment to the new diagnosis of a medical condition.
  • Inpatient consulting services for patients in Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital.
  • Outpatient treatment services for the conditions listed above.

Pediatric Neuropsychology

  • Diagnostic and neuropsychological evaluation of autism spectrum disorders.
  • Inpatient consultative services for patients in Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital.
  • Neuropsychological evaluation for children with health care conditions impacting cognitive functioning including infection, seizures, metabolic disorders, cancer, stroke, endocrine disorders, concussion and head injury.
  • Neuropsychological evaluation for children with serious developmental disabilities.

Pediatric Psychiatry

  • Diagnostic evaluations for complex mental health conditions, including psychosis, Bipolar Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, autism and comorbid conditions.
  • Inpatient consultative services for patients in Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital.
  • Outpatient medication management services.
  • Psychopharmacology consultations for treatment-resistant conditions or complex medication regimens.

Scheduling and Contact Information

Once a referral is received from your child’s consulting physician or primary care provider a packet of information will be mailed to your home. Information contained in the packet will vary depending on which provider your child is seeing. We request completion of this information by you and your child’s teacher, as well as any previous academic or developmental testing, for our providers to review prior to the initial appointment.
